This is a really delicious and easy-to-make Cornbread Recipe that only requires 5 ingredients. It turns out fluffy and tender with just the right “crumb”. Grab two Jiffy Corn Muffin Mixes, eggs, butter, sour cream, and buttermilk, combine everything and bake for 30 minutes in a 9×9 pan. It is a perfect side dish for chili or BBQ!
We also love to serve this 5 Ingredient Cornbread with 3 ingredient honey butter… or you can just put softened salted butter and honey on the table!
The 5 Ingredients
Jiffy Corn Muffin Mixes- You can find Jiffy Corn Mixes in the baking aisle near other cornbread and cake mixes. Make sure you grab 2 boxes!
Eggs- You will need 3 large eggs.
Sour Cream- This helps keep the cornbread nice and tender and also lends a little flavor. However, know that this cornbread does NOT taste like sour cream.
Buttermilk- We love using buttermilk in baking recipes. Just like the sour cream it helps keep the corn bread moist.
No Buttermilk, No Problem!
If you don’t have buttermilk and want to make this recipe, you can actually make buttermilk with 2 ingredients; milk and vinegar.
In a bowl combine a scant ¾ cup of milk (preferably 2% or whole milk) with a scant 1 Tablespoon of white vinegar. Stir it together and let it sit for 5 minutes. Give it another stir and it is ready to use in your 5 ingredient cornbread recipe.
Butter- We like to use salted butter for more flavor. Simply melt it in the microwave or on the stove top and add it to the recipe.

Equipment
- 9×9 baking dish - or a deep 9 inch round
Ingredients
- 2 pkg. Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix
- 3 eggs
- ¾ cup buttermilk
- ½ cup sour cream
- ¼ cup salted butter melted
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400℉. Grease a 9×9 pan or 9 Inch round pan with oil or non-stick spray.
- In a large bowl whisk together the wet ingredients, making sure the eggs and sour cream are whisked in completely.3 eggs, ¾ cup buttermilk, ½ cup sour cream, ¼ cup salted butter
- Add the Jiffy mixes and stir in completely. It's ok if there are a few small lumps in the batter.2 pkg. Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix
- Pour into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 30 minutes.
- Let cool and then cut into 9 pieces (3×3). Excellent served with honey butter!
Storing
- Keep leftover 5 Ingredient Cornbread at room temp in a covered container, or cover the 9×9 pan with plastic wrap or foil.
